30.

You guys. Today is exactly 30 days from the date that I will be beginning my hike. My 2,178 mile hike, to be exact. Georgia to Maine. March to September. I woke up a few days ago and up until that point, hadn’t really realized just how crazy this whole expedition is. I seriously can not wait to be out there. I talked with someone who’d completed the trail several months ago, and one thing he said will always stick out with me. He said, “If the trail doesn’t change you, then you’d be the first.” I can’t wait to experience what that means.

In other news, I’m only about $400 shy of my budget goal! That is incredible considering the higher than average costs associated with shooting a documentary alongside the actual hiking costs. The outpouring of support, both financial and spiritual, has been phenomenal. Without my family and friends, this whole endeavor wouldn’t be possible. Seriously. I’d also just like to specifically thank my parents for putting up with my wild dreams, instead of just graduating college and getting a full-time job like a normal person. I don’t say it enough, but I love ya’ll!

There are a ton of little things I am having to get done before I can actually start. In fact, I created a To Do List (complete with Blackletter font heading) in Word and pinned it above my computer. Lots to get done!

A video is coming soon in which I go over all of the gear that I’m carrying, so stay tuned for that! That’s all I’ve got for now, just wanted to let ya’ll know where I stood with 30 more days to go.

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.” -Matt. 5:16

Thirty days left before your journey – wow! I am so excited for you. Here’s a poem by Robert Frost that I love,

    Grace to you!

    The Road Not Taken
    ~Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
